About this pattern
This headband for those days when you don’t quite need a hat but it’s still a little chilly. This is perfect for using up leftover yarn or yarn from Colourmart scrap bags.
Materials: Size 8 US/5.0 mm needles, cable needle, about 30-50 grams of worsted weight yarn
Gauge: Flexible, use thicker yarn and needles for a chunky headband
The headband is worked back and forth on straight needles with 3 garter stitches on each end and the 15 stitch pattern panel worked in the middle. Directions can be followed according to the written directions or the chart. Repeat the 18 row pattern around 6 (S/M) or 7 (L) times until desired length is reached.
Abbreviations k knit p purl rs right side ws wrong side T3R - twist twig to right - place 2 stitches to back on cable needle, knit next stitch on left needle, p1, k1 from cable needle T3L - twist twig to left - place 1 stitch to front on cable needle, knit one then purl one from left needle, k1 from cable needle
Directions Cast on 21 stitches Rows 1-4: knit 3, 1x1 rib (k1, p1 on rs; p1, k1 on ws) to last three stitches, k3 Row 5: k3, k1, p1, k1, p1, T3R, p1, T3L, k1, p1, k1, p1, k3 Row 6 and all even rows: k3, 1x1 rib (p1, k1) to last three stitches, k3 Row 7: k3, k1, p1, T3R, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, T3L, p1, k1, k3 Row 9: k3, T3R, p1, T3R, p1, T3L, p1, T3L, k3 Row 11: repeat row 7 Row 13: repeat row 9 Row 15: repeat row 7 Row 17: k3, T3R, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, T3L, k3 Row 18: k3, work 1x1 rib to last three stitches, k3 Repeat rows 5-18 5 or 6 times or until desired length is achieved. Bind off. Sew edges together with a piece of yarn and weave in ends.
